OLR Almond Varieties
Nonpareil (NP) - Blooms and harvested early. Soft shell;brown color;high suture opening. The NP is a medium size nut with a flat shape, light in color and has a smooth surface.
Carmel (CR) - Harvested 25-30 days after NP. The CR has a soft shell, with good shell integrity and a fair suture opening. A medium nut with a narrow shape, and a slightly wrinkled surface.
Butte (BT) - Harevested 25-30 days after NP; versatile kernel applications. With a semi-hard shell, the BT is light in color with a smooth surface and low suture opening. A small, short plump shape nut with a wrinkled surface.
Padre (PD) - Harvested 25-30 days after NP; similar to BT. The PD has a hard shell with good shell integrity and no suture opening. The nut is small, short wide shape with a dark brown color and a wrinkled surface.
Monterey (MT) - Harvested 40-60 days after NP with a high percentage of doubles. The MT has a hard shell, brown color with a smooth surface and a low suture opening. It is a large, long narrow shape, deep wrinkled surface nut.
Fritz (FR) - Harvested 40-60 days after NP. A soft shell, light color with good shell integrity and a low suture opening. It is a small medium plump shape nut, dark brown with a fairly wrinkled surface.
Price (PR) - Harvested 7-10 days after NP; high percentage of doubles. The price nut has a dark brown paper shell, rough surface and a high suture opening. A small, short narrow shape nut with a fairly wrinkled surface.
